AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay has a variety of management and governance committees that help the organization achieve its mission in support of its members. - Awards Committee – The Awards Committee identifies, assesses, and acknowledges individuals and companies deserving special recognition for their contributions to the chapter’s goals, objectives, general welfare, AFCEA International, STEM education, and the broader community. The Awards team is responsible for collaborating with the AFCEA International Awards Committee, proposing deserving chapter members for awards to the AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay Board, devising innovative approaches to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individual AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay members and companies, and coordinating with other committees for the acknowledgment of their volunteers and STEM education awards.
- Emerging Leaders Committee – The Emerging Leaders Committee is responsible for strategizing and implementing programs to augment the membership and engagement of individuals aged 40 and below within AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay. This includes facilitating mentoring opportunities for emerging leaders, arranging venues for both social and business networking, coordinating direct volunteer initiatives to bolster other chapter programs and committees, advocating for STEM education in the region, providing ethics-building opportunities for young individuals, and promoting the advantages of being actively involved with AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay.
- Membership Committee – The Membership Committee is responsible for acquiring new members and ensuring the retention of existing members, encompassing individual and corporate memberships. Responsibilities include initiating and overseeing chapter membership promotion programs, implementing AFCEA International’s programs, promoting membership at monthly breakfasts and events, publicizing member benefits, reviewing the monthly membership roster for follow-up on expiring memberships, maintaining updated membership records, creating new services and opportunities for member benefit through participation in AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay, conducting surveys to gauge member needs and opinions, and recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Program Committee – The Program Committee is responsible for securing distinguished guest speakers, coordinating speaker and flag writers, managing logistics, arranging hotel facilities, overseeing audiovisual aspects, scripting, organizing the head table, handling VIP arrangements, managing registration and check-in, and coordinating corporate table logistics.
- Publicity Committee – The Publicity Committee oversees the chapter’s communication, messaging, content creation, and information dissemination. This includes promoting all chapter activities through diverse channels such as trade, military, and public journals and utilizing electronic, PR outlets, and print/electronic media for advertising. Responsibilities also involve establishing and maintaining partnerships with various marketing and channel partners, exploring innovative approaches to publicize chapter events and activities, formulating and executing a strategy for outreach through social media and social networking, coordinating photographic coverage of meetings, summits, social events, developing a plan for utilizing those images and serving as the chapter’s primary contact with the editor of SIGNAL magazine and other trade publications.
- Scholarships & Education Committee – The Scholarships & Education Committee of AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay oversees scholarship administration and promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in the region. This involves managing scholarship processes, defining eligibility, and selecting recipients. Additionally, the committee raises awareness about the importance of STEM education, encourages contributions from companies and members, and develops strategies to support STEM initiatives.
- Small Business Committee – The Small Business Committee fosters educational, growth, and developmental aspects of small businesses within the Greater Tampa Bay region, actively contributing their skills and efforts to national security. The committee’s focus includes investigating events, services, products, and programs to augment the business development capacities of AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay member companies and associates. Additionally, the committee strives to offer professional development opportunities to individual employees of small businesses.
- Sponsorship Committee – The Sponsorship Committee creates and implements strategies to attract individual and corporate sponsors for chapter events and initiatives at AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay. Responsibilities include ensuring proper recognition of all supporters in pre-event marketing, during the event, and post-event; building and expanding a comprehensive list of potential sponsorship target companies; collaborating with other committees and chairs; reaching out to individuals and businesses to establish sponsorship relationships aligned with the sponsorship plan goals and criteria; expressing gratitude to sponsors for their financial and in-kind contributions.
- Ways and Means Committee – The Ways and Means Committee generates the necessary funds to fulfill the chapter’s budgetary requirements. This committee is tasked with planning, organizing, arranging, and executing the chapter’s fundraising events and functions. The Ways and Means Committee Chairperson is responsible for completing all details related to various Chapter fundraising events and functions, including but not limited to activities like golf tournaments, bowling tournaments, luncheon raffles, etc. Additionally, the Ways and Means Committee Chairperson can appoint individual event chairpersons.
- Workforce Development Committee – The Workforce Development Committee focuses on initiatives to enhance and strengthen the workforce within AFCEA Greater Tampa Bay. This involves identifying and addressing skill gaps, promoting professional development opportunities, and fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and government entities to ensure a skilled and adaptable workforce. The committee also works to facilitate mentorship programs, job placement assistance, and career advancement opportunities for members within the organization. Through these efforts, the Workforce Development Committee plays a crucial role in supporting individuals’ professional growth and success in the Greater Tampa Bay region.
